New Film Category And Structure From 2022 Edition
The Ferrara Film Festival from its 7th edition (April 2-10, 2022) will also be branded as Global Cinema Expo, given the global nature gained in the most recent editions and the evolution of the quality of its movie premieres. The Executive Team has decided to drastically restructure the categorization of its films, creating a clear and better division between commercial products and more authorial products. This will not only serve to make it clearer to the public what type of film to choose, but also not to discriminate films based on their geographical origin.
From the 2022 edition, films (both feature and short films) of a more commercial nature will be included in the new category called Premiere Event, while those of a more authorial nature will be included in the category called Premiere Autore and the documentaries will fall into the Premiere Docu category. The film connected with UNICEF's themes (which is an official partner) will be included in the Premiere Unicef category and, finally, the category for the promotion of motion pictures produced in the Region of Emilia-Romagna will be called Premiere Emilia-Romagna. With the introduction of the Golden Dragon Career Achievement Awards in 2020, the Ferrara Film Festival has also established its own Hall of Fame, already full of prestigious names in the movie Industry: Nastassja Kinski, Bille August, Alessandro Haber and Mike Newell. The Ferrara Film Festival, during the whole pandemic era, was one of the very few that held a 100% "physical edition", in total security and with a success of international scale.
